A Santa Ana woman and her boyfriend were charged Friday with felony child abuse after police said they starved, beat and tied up the woman's two young sons, causing malnutrition and dehydration so severe the children were hospitalized. Cheryl Ann Stuart, 25, and her boyfriend, 31-year-old Mario Alberto Colin, will be arraigned Monday on two counts each of child abuse and corporal injury to a child. Prosecutors are seeking $250,000 bail for each, the Orange County district attorney's office said.Authorities say Colin has been employed as a behavioral technician at Durfee Elementary School in the El Rancho School District in Pico Rivera for the past four months. He is also a student at Cal State Fullerton, working on getting his Master's degree in teaching. If convicted, Stuart and Colin could each face more than seven years in prison.
